An Adjunct Event
We are pleased to present The SOTG Small Works Showcase at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery.
Sculpture on the Gulf 2022 artists will be presenting their maquettes and small works at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery from 25 February to 27 March.
The SOTG Small Works Showcase features a fabulous selection of works from the creative minds of our walkway artists highlighting the diverse range of mediums and practices.
The exhibition includes contemporary works spanning ceramics and light works, paintings and drawings, weaving, and maquettes of their larger walkway work.
Invited artists from previous SOTG events also feature in the exhibition and works submitted include bronzes, works on paper, glass and carving.
Our in-gallery exhibition also takes a look back at the history of Sculpture on the Gulf. Featured are archival objects, including iconic images from each exhibition along with a suite of maquettes now held in the Gallery’s permanent collection.
The last couple of years have reinforced the importance of the relationship between people and the art experience. Being able to share with friends and family new and original artworks by artists of Aotearoa, is something to celebrate this summer.
You will find joy, delight, and intrigue in the collection of works exhibited. Find your favourite piece, purchase it and take it with you–or we can pack it and send to you.
Further large-scale works are a feature of the Artworks Courtyard adjacent to the Gallery where you can see beautiful new works by two women artists / leading Māori artist Ngāhina Hohaia and NZ/Cambodian artist Lang Ea.
The Sculpture on the Gulf Small Works Showcase opens at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery on Friday 27 February at 6pm.
