Our Values

James Wright, Target. 2015

Sculpture on the Gulf is built on our values of:

Kaitiakitange (Guardianship of the land);
Manaakitanga (Inclusivity);
Mana Toi (Creativity);
Whakatairi (Elevation) and
Mahitahi (Collaboration).

We acknowledge that we are merely custodians of the land and abide by the principles of Kaitiakitanga, – pledging to leave the people and nature, better for this sculpture experience.

Inclusive / Manaakitanga

We warmly welcome; the Waiheke community, friends, families, guests and people of all abilities to Waiheke to enjoy this unique event, their way.

Creative / Mana Toi

We champion artists, the arts and people’s experience of art. We appreciate the multifaceted value the creativity of artists brings to our community.

Elevating / Whakatāiri

We provide a unique and powerful platform for artists to elevate their reputation, for visitors to elevate their appreciation of art (and Waiheke Island).

Collaborative / Mahitahi

We collaborate with our artists, our community and our partners and supporters, to co-create successful outcomes for all.
