Sculpture on the Gulf 4 – 20 March 2022

Our much-loved biennial  exhibition is back! The Waiheke Island coastal walkway between Matiatia and Church Bay will once again be transformed into an Artscape like no other.

Gather your people and get ready to walk, play, connect,  reflect. Enjoy!

Set amongst some of the most magnificent coastal landscape in the world, the undulating walkway, which snakes its way around the headland from above Matiatia towards Church Bay on Waiheke Island, has served as a temporary home for pieces created by a who’s who of New Zealand art.  Giant rambling pōhutukawa, pockets of native bush and pebble-strewn beaches provide niches for sensitively placed works of art, made with this exquisite location in mind……….Art & Nature Elevated!

The small sculpture exhibition will be showcased at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery where our artists have smaller marquettes inspired by their work on the walkway.

The event footprint will also include works in the Artworks precinct giving you a chance to explore more of Oneroa Village and Waiheke Island.

The 2km coastal walk is connected by various walkways and stairs. The walk takes approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours to enjoy; meander along, take in the magnificent views and, of course, the star of the show: the sculptures!
