Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy tickets for the sculpture walk?
The walk is free, if you’ve enjoyed it we ask for a small $10 donation from adults towards the costs of this special Island event.
Can I bring my car over?
Sealink offers a vehicle ferry service from Half Moon Bay or Wynyard Quarter, Auckland City to Kennedy Point ferry terminal on Waiheke Island. Vehicle bookings are recommended in advance to secure preferred timings. For a full timetable or for more information please visit sealink.co.nz
Where does the sculpture shuttle bus leave from?
The sculpture shuttle bus leaves from the Information Centre. Please do not drive to the start of the walk (Nick Johnstone Drive) as there is restricted parking in the vicinity. Bus shuttle tickets are $5pp with children 15 and under free.
Where can I park my car?
Parking is restricted along Nick Johnstone Drive so that buses can turn around safely. The best option is to get dropped off at the start of the walk, or make your way to the 48 hour car park at Matiatia and then catch the sculpture shuttle bus from the Information Centre. Alternatively, leave your car at home and take the bus to the ferry terminal!
How does the shuttle bus work?
The sculpture shuttle bus will leave the Information Centre located at Matiatia at regular intervals seven days a week. The bus departs Matiatia every 15 mins (approximately) with the first stop being at the START of the walkway (Nick Johnstone Drive), the bus then picks up visitors from the end of the Coastal walk (Look Out Point) and takes visitors to the Artworks Complex in Oneroa village. This is a drop off and pick up point. The bus then heads back to Matiatia. Sculpture shuttle bus tickets are $5pp with children 15 and under free.
Can I bring my bike over?
Yes – you can bring your bicycle over on both the Fullers and Sealink ferries. The exhibition walk is not suitable for bikes, however, bike racks are available at the ferry terminal, so you can enjoy the walk and then explore the Island, by bike, if you have some spare time. Don’t forget to bring your own chain and lock. For more information please visit: Fullers – www.fullers.co.nz or www.sealink.co.nz
Can I bring my dog?
Yes – you can so long as it is on a lead at all times. Please note, dogs are allowed on the sculpture shuttle buses but this is at the driver’s discretion particularly during weekends, public holidays and busy periods.
